                            Bio
                            Heidi has been involved with FIRST since 2006 when she began coaching her sons’ FIRST LEGO League team, the Gothic Lawn Gnomes. Since then, she has also mentored/coached VEX robotics, FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST Robotics Competition. She has also served the greater FIRST community as the Senior Mentor for Washington state, supported competitions for all programs, and also run League Events for FTC teams.

                            Heidi has been involved as a coach in FLL and FTC. She has mentored for FRC and judged/reviewed for Jr.FLL and FLL. She has acted as an event volunteer in many different capacities from judging to organizing to queueing for all of the programs in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Australia, and even at Championships in St. Louis. Heidi also served as Washington’s first FIRST Senior Mentor.

                            Specialties and Interests
                            Heidi enjoys working with our students as coach and adviser as well as finding new opportunities to share the fun of FIRST with others. She loves to see our students growing and learning new skills, both technical and non-technical.

                            Hobbies
                            Heidi enjoys spending time with her family and her house rabbits, traveling the world, and building LEGO. She also derives great joy from volunteering and helping others in the community. Her latest “outside” charity is Destiny House Restoration Center, a transitional housing facility incorporating a holistic, measured-results, data driven treatment program entitled “H.E.A.R.T.S” (Healing, Education And Restoration Treatment for Survivors) for the healing and restoration of female victims of sex-trafficking ages 18 and over.

                                  Marcel is a young older guy with a broad experience in Electronics, Software design and development, IT Systems design and architecture and way, way too many hobbies. Marcel works for AT&T as an IT Solutions Architect

                                  Marcel has been part of the FIRST family since 2007, working with Team 417 as a Parent and then shortly, as a mentor. He works as a Hardware inspector alongside Bob  at any FIRST FTC events we volunteer at.

                                  Loves to do machine work, CAD / CAM Design and manufacture. Owns a very small but capable 3 axis CNC mill, a small Lathe, Standalone Milling Machine, Heat Treatment Oven and way, way too many toys. Willing to teach Tig Welding of Aluminum to students and parents alike. At one point in time, He was a Square Dance Caller for 25 years. At one point in time he completely disassembled his car, engine, transmission, suspension and interior and reassembled it to still have it work!.

                                    As a child, Steve loved to take things apart. He occasionally got them back together again. Naturally, he would grow up to be an engineer. As an adult, Steve earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science, spend a decade working at Microsoft, and fell in love with robotics and electronics projects.
